Dr. Gary Goldenberg and Dr. Kristina Goldenberg, New York board certified dermatologists and laser resurfacing specialists, recommend MiXto Fractionated CO2 treatments for patients who would like to improve the tone and texture of their skin.
MiXto Fractionated CO2 softens fine lines and wrinkles, as well as regenerates damaged skin. The fractional laser technology allows your doctor to control the amount of heat being delivered to the skin, and the depth of penetration. MiXto Fractionated CO2 can a variety of skin imperfections, such as:
Although the MiXto Fractionated CO2 laser is most frequently used on the face, it can also be used on other parts of the body. Dr. Gary Goldenberg and Dr. Kristina Goldenberg routinely treat the neck, chest, and hands.
During a treatment, your doctor will pulse laser light onto the treatment area, selectively controlling the depth of penetration. For most patients, the minimally-invasive MiXto Fractionated CO2 laser treatment does not involve significant pain. However, before a MiXto Fractionated CO2 laser treatment, a topical anesthetic is commonly applied to help alleviate any discomfort.
On average, a treatment takes about 30 minutes. For most patients, one treatment is sufficient. For those with more severe acne scars or deep wrinkles, additional treatments may be recommended. Although many patients are ready to go back to work within a day, downtime will vary. On average, a patient may experience 4-5 days of recovery. After a treatment, a patient will notice redness and some tenderness, much like a mild sunburn. Peeling typically occurs after a few days, causing flaking skin and some itchiness. This will resolve itself within a few days, as the skin heals.
Most patients see immediate improvement after a single treatment. Because the procedure prompts new collagen production, continued improvement can be seen for up to 6 months. The new collagen will add structure to the skin, giving it additional strength and resilience.
MiXto Fractionated CO2 treatments are considered safe and effective for most individuals. However, the treatment may not be appropriate for everybody. Dr. Gary Goldenberg and Dr. Kristina Goldenberg can determine if you are a good candidate for laser resurfacing.
