Father’s Day Gift Giving Guide

Dr. Goldenberg discusses ideas for gifts for father’s day on CERTIFIED FABULOUS.

Don’t know what to give your dad for Father’s Day this year? How about the gift of healthy, younger skin? You can put together a basket of goodies for your dad by going to your local pharmacy or department store, or get him a gift certificate to a dermatologist for cosmetic treatments to make him look his best.

For everyday dads, these are products I recommend: body wash – DOVE Men+ Care Face and Body Wash; facial moisturizer – CeraVe AM; body moisturizer – Cetaphil Moisturizing Cream, Fragrance Free; night facial wash – CeraVe Foaming Cleanser; sunscreen – Blue Lizard – Australian Sunscreen Sensitive Fragrance Free 30 SPF.

For active Dads, this gift basket would be great: facial wash – Liquid Neutrogena Facial Cleanser Fragrance Free; body soap – Cetaphil Antibacterial Soap; facial moisturizer – Cetaphil UVA/UVB Defense Facial Moisturizer SPF 50; body moisturizer – Jack Black Cool Moisture Body Lotion; sunscreen – Coppertone Sport Clear Continuous Spray SPF 50.

Is your dad pampered? This is a great gift basket for him: facial wash – Lab Series Skincare for Men Multi-Action Face Wash; facial scrub – Kielh’s Facial Fuel Energizing Scrub for Men; facial moisturizer – Kyoku For Men Facial Moisturizer SPF 15; body wash – Kielh’s Cross-Terrain All-In-One Refueling Wash; body moisturizer – L’Occitane Shea Ultra Rich Body Lotion; sunscreen – LaRoche-Posay Anthelios 60 Ultra Light Sunscreen Fluid.

But if you really want to impress your dad, why not give him the gift of looking younger? Many cosmetic procedures are performed in men and your dad is no different. Botox is the most common cosmetic procedure performed in men. Dysport and Xeomin, can also be used to relax the muscles that cause wrinkles, giving the skin a smooth, wrinkle-free, appearance.

Fraxel Dual can treat discolorations, brown spots, acne scars, and wrinkles. It’s also been used to treat actinic keratosis, pre-cancerous spots commonly seen in men. This is a non-ablative laser that works with your body to stimulate a natural healing process that will quickly reveal skin that is rejuvenated and evenly pigmented, and reduce wrinkles and lines. The ideal location to use this laser is face, chest and hands. Down time is just a couple of days and your dad can return to his regular activities in just a few days.

Laser hair removal is a great gift for dad. Many dads would like less hair on the beard, chest, abdomen, or back. Because no dad wants to have bumps on his neck or wear a sweater all year round. The treatment is very safe and virtually painless. Most patients require 3-4 treatments per area with once yearly maintenance treatment. Down time is minimal and most patients continue with their activities after the session.

Want to really impress your dad? Give him the gift that turns the clock back – offer him a liquid facelift with facial contouring. This combination of wrinkle relaxing agent, hyaluronic acid fillers and deep fillers, is a non-invasive alternative to a surgical facelift. The goal of the procedure is to reduce appearance of wrinkles and lines, restore natural and more youthful facial contours, achieve a rested and less tired look, and to improve overall appearance. In men, it’s also important not to make the patient look feminine. We want to preserve or enhance masculine features, while softening and erasing signs of aging.

Some dermatologists may offer gift certificates and package deals. Call your local dermatologist and give your dad the gift of younger, healthier skin.
