Dr. Goldenberg on ABC7 New York discussing collagen drinks and wrinkles.
A new study showed that drinking a collagen supplement may help with wrinkle reduction. I don’t buy it. First, most of the collagen you ingest through the gut either gets destroy in the acidity of the GI tract or isn’t absorbed at all. Even if it does get absorbed, by a small miracle of sorts, it wouldn’t get to the skin! And how would it get to the skin with wrinkles? I am not buying it!
But there are treatments and products that do stimulate collagen synthesis and improve appearance of wrinkles and lines. These are certain filers, such as sculptra, radiesse, and juvederm voluma, and laser treatment with Fraxel Dual.
