How Bellafill Works

Bellafill contains a special formulation of bovine collagen and polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres. PMMA is a biocompatible synthetic material that has a long history of use medicine and dentistry. Unlike other types of dermal fillers, PMMA is not broken down and absorbed by the body over time. The PMMA component acts like scaffolding beneath the skin, providing structure where it is lacking. When Bellafill is first injected, it provides immediate fullness in the area thanks to the PMMA microspheres and collagen. As the bovine collagen is gradually absorbed, the body simultaneously generates new collagen in response to the presence of PMMA. It is this dual mode of action that gives Bellafill its long-lasting properties.
