Actinic keratosis are one of the most commonly treated lesions in dermatology patients. They are precancerous and can turn into squamous cell skin cancer. Fraxel is a type of laser that works by creating heat zones in the skin. It has been used to improve pigmentation, skin tone, pore size, acne scars, and wrinkles and lines.

A new study has shown that it also works for actinic keratosis. In this study an almost 87% decrease in the number of actninc keratosis lesions was seen. Cosmetic improvement was also noted by patients that participated in the study.
