How CoolSculpting Compares to Lipo
CoolSculpting vs. Lipo –
Thanks to an aggressive marketing campaign, many people think CoolSculpting is the most effective method of medical fat loss on the market. CoolSculpting may have taken the market for medical fat loss by storm with its “fat freezing” commercials. But new developments in laser-assisted lipo technology offer some considerable advantages over CoolSculpting.
BeautiFill laser assisted lipo, with its “three-in-one” system, allows patients to not only experience permanent fat loss, but also has the ability to tighten skin and allows for autologous fat transfer to fill in wrinkles, line & hollows – and sculpt fuller, plumper breasts and buttocks.
New York dermatologist Gary Goldberg is one of only a select few doctors in the NYC area to offer BeautiFill laser assisted lipo. In this article, CoolSculpting and BeautiFill lipo will be compared and contrasted, allowing for patients to better decide which fat loss treatment best suits their needs.
Similarities of CoolSculpting & Laser Lipo
Liposuction and CoolSculpting are both effective means through which unwanted fat may be removed. The results of both CoolSculpting and Liposuction are permanent, and both procedures have been granted FDA approval.
CoolSculpting vs Laser Lipo: The Procedure
During CoolSculpting, unwanted fat cells are frozen away. No anesthetic is used, and the patient experiences intense cold for about 10 minutes until the treated area becomes numb. Once they are destroyed, the fat cells are removed from the body over time through its natural elimination process.
Lipo, on the other hand, uses suction to remove the fat cells from the body during the procedure itself. Anesthetic is flushed into the treated area(s) to numb the patient during the entire treatment. The fat cells are immediately removed, rather than flushed out slowly over time.
CoolSculpting vs. Laser Lipo: Number of Procedures
A single session of CoolSculpting takes about an hour. That being said, the majority of CoolSculpting patients must undergo multiple sessions, spread out across several months in order to obtain complete results.
BeautiFill laser assisted lipo, on the other hand, take about 1-2 hours to perform. While the procedure itself takes longer than CoolSculpting, most BeautiFill lipo patients only require a single treatment to achieve results.
Results from CoolSculpting gradually become visible a few weeks after treatment, but as multiple procedures are required of most CoolSculpting patients, final results are generally only visible after several weeks or months – after all of the treatments have been performed and all of the fat cells are eliminated over time.
Results from liposuction, on the other hand, can be seen immediately once swelling has subsided. While that process can take a few months with traditional liposuction, the swelling from BeautiFill laser lipo subsides much quicker. As a result, BeautiFill lipo patients at our NYC office are usually able to enjoy final results in just a few weeks.
CoolSculpting vs. Laser Lipo: Downtime
As CoolSculpting is a noninvasive procedure, patients experience no downtime. CoolSculpting patients do, however, experience side effects such as numbness, swelling, skin sensitivity, or bruising, all of which typically last up to a few weeks.
Other CoolSculpting side effects include pain, aching, or stinging sensations to the treatment area, which can resolve as rapidly as a few days or last as long as a few weeks. The cold temperatures of the CoolSculpting procedure may also result in temporary redness or swelling, as well.
In very rare cases, CoolSculpting patients may experience what is called paradoxical adipose hyperplasia, which causes fat cells to grow larger rather than smaller. This side effect, while serious, is very rare, and is primarily experienced by male CoolSculpting patients.
Liposuction, on the other hand, is a minimally invasive surgery that utilizes anesthesia. BeautiFill lipo is performed by separating fat cells from the body through laser-generated heat energy. As it does not require excessive force to perform, BeautiFill lipo is considered by patients to be one of the most physically comfortable lipo procedures on the market. BeautiFill laser assisted lipo does come with a few days of downtime, but it results in far less swelling and bruising than traditional lipo.
Lipo Removes More Fat than CoolSculpting
Through CoolSculpting, patients are able to remove up to 25% of the fat cells in any part of the person’s body. Liposuction, on the other hand, is able to safely remove as many as 11 pounds at a time (depending on patient size and fat location).
When choosing between CoolSculpting and liposuction, consider this: a person who wishes to lose 10 extra pounds of fat from their waist and middle would only be able to remove roughly 2.5 lbs (25%) in a single session – whereas through liposuction, all 10 pounds could conceivably be lost in a single lipo treatment.
The ability to safely remove much larger quantities of fat in a single treatment is probably the greatest advantage lipo has over CoolSculpting.
Added benefits of Laser Lipo Over CoolSculpting
BeautiFill lipo uses laser-generated thermal energy to melt away fat, which offer the added benefit over CoolSculpting of skin-tightening. By contracting the skin’s collagen and elastin fibers, BeautiFill laser lipo stimulates the production of collagen. As a result, patients who chose BeautiFill lipo will experience much tighter skin in treatment areas such as the neck, face, jawline, and more.
Additionally, while CoolSculpting physically destroys fat cells by freezing them away, BeautiFill Lipo preserves the fat removed during the procedure. The fat can then be used for injection into parts of the patient’s body where more volume is desired – such as the face, buttocks or breasts.
Cost of CoolSculpting vs. Lipo
While a single CoolSculpting treatment generally costs less than a single session of lipo, it is important to keep in mind that CoolSculpting typically requires numerous treatments for patients to achieve idea results. Liposuction, on the other hand, generally only requires one treatment When you add up several CoolSculpting treatments compared to a single Lipo treatment, patients may even find they spend less in the long run on lipo than they do on CoolSculpting.
